within the ground

within the ground, within our cocoon
in the world, this life, walking on the earth
our life in statis, frozen for a time
growing in ways unknown
known only to our God
we are like the seed
entombed within the comb
bursting forth from the fire’s heat
falling into the ground
hidden within the soil
in time, God’s time, splitting open
shoots rising to the sun
fulfilling God’s promise to us
from the ashes, the fire
new life in Christ, in our Savior
the hope of all mankind
the presence of God’s Spirit
