The smell of memory

Life in rituals, in moments gathered

in sharing the same steps, the journey

our life together, scents merging

the smell of memory, of chocolate

filling the kitchen, the house

a discussion of cooking

of texture, of flavor

the girls gathered round

(as are the Yorkies)

waiting for tastes, for droppings

opportunities presenting

to share some of the dinner

during the preparations, the makings

before the first portion

is put on a plate
