We all took tentative,
cautious
steps into the icy sea
cold, cold, Maine salt water
Unsure of the wisdom
of our temporary sojourn
walking out from shore,
tide rising, coming in,
bringing numbing cold,
and a soup of baby
jellyfish.
At least the cold
took the sting out.
