Rich, bold, stark colors
burnt umber, cranberry,
goldenrod, peach, cornstalk
vividness of the season
God’s artistry so evident
in His palette of autumn
bright lines of color
ablaze, alive, shimmering
calling to us, to see,
to hear God’s call, His whisper
layer upon layer, radiant color
living hue upon hue, flowing,
all of them shouting Your praises
to You the Creator of the universe
all of creation singing one song
to Your majesty, to Your grace
showering beauty on the world
knowing in this season more than some
that like leaves, in their perfection,
in their brilliance, this season
scarlet, burgundy, blaze orange,
singing to You at the end of life
in dying our victory, eternal
to see You in the courts of glory
