each life a vessel
a vessel of their flame
within their spirit, their
bodies
their lives in their hands
each one a bottle, unique,
as if made of blown glass
spinning, expanding
color being added
cooling, returning
pulled from the fire
all of them alive
growing, learning
brightly burning
spirits young, open, ready
to be fed, to be nurtured
the fire within them
like lightning in a bottle
a breath, a spark
adding fuel, ignition
ready to burn
within their bodies
their earthen vessels
the spark of spirits
their living essence
offered, shared, given
a sacred trust, solemn
giving to us to cherish
this part of their journey
in our time, this place
these few moments of their
lives
