beginning to read the pages
the specialized instruction
the plans for each one
to unlock the mystery
to reach their potential
precious jewels within the
stones
lives bursting to shine
reading the pages
the struggles maybe, but
the words of success
the aspirations of their
parents
and for us just the same
describing only in part
the young lives I am
touching
none of them a blank slate
with history, emotion
each a living painting
adding color and texture
layer upon layer
as each grows into the
person
they are meant to be
adding what we can
our part, their journey,
seeking to set them free
hidden sculptures
within the stones
the layers, history
each one beautiful
waiting to emerge
to burst forth, to fly
within the stones, hidden
treasure of great worth
each one a work of art
coming into focus, into view
yearning to break free
to stand on their own feet
