we need to see with
Christ’s eyes
what really was happening
here
not about a couple of
coins
far more than that,
truly,
the widow came forward
to give herself
in loving sacrifice
what must the others have
noticed
her old clothing, the
curve of her back,
bent over, stooped, from
her burdens,
what must they have
expected
when she gave but two
coins;
but it was herself on the
altar
this widow in the temple
offering to God, all that
she had
all that she was, herself
a sacrifice,
all that she could give,
trust;
she gave but two coins
symbols only, of her
offering
all of what she had, herself
on the altar;
This is what she offered
unto God
