A hum on the wind
an echo remaining
of that day not so long
ago
the wail of the martyrs
when it was really the end
when it was truly over
The madman bloodied
hiding in his hometown
willing for more to die
to hold the illusion of
power
freedom for himself
avoiding the dock of judgment
Dying in a hail of fire
his body torn asunder
the wail of the martyrs
decades of oppression
they rise together
singing of that day
