the dove descended, among us – v5

God’s Spirit fell from the stained glass
right into our presence;
shattering that barrier,
the wall we had placed between us
the invisible divide,
our attempt to wall God out
the skin of the temple
the box in which we meet

She saw a vision clearly
God’s Spirit fell from the stained glass
bodily present with us;
speaking words of recognition,
of palpable awareness, vision,
craning our heads to see;
a palpable gasp fell upon us
sitting in the presence of God

God’s Spirit fell from the stained glass
the dove descended, seated,
bodily present with us;
the dove descended, seated
between the two mothers
sharing the pew with them
here in the sanctuary
beside our sisters, abiding with us
