In Christ’s darkest hour
being faithful to the path;
How could God look away
from the face of our Savior;
God watched in pain
as Jesus died for us.
God did not look away
in Christ’s moment of anguish.
God was with Jesus
upon the cross, in His suffering;
Jesus cried out,
He was fully human;
The pain, the agony,
consuming His flesh.
