How profoundly different
how much better than our own
are the gifts of the Lord;
remembering the ancient words
the distinction of creation
all of the world good
by man very good
Great, even that, the Lord God Almighty
not a strong enough adjective
the wonder of God’s gifts
to the humbleness of man;
our commonness evident
when compared with God’s glory
all we have to do
is look upon our face
How much more,
the offerings of the Creator,
the Savior of humanity
in the gifts the Spirit gives us;
life, creation,
a future in heaven
the unmerited sacrifice
the taking on of our whole sin
Bowing humbly,
when we let go
when we turn our lives from the world
and return to God;
Arms open, just like the Father,
we are all Prodigals,
redeemed when we return home to God
All our sins, the judgment of our lives
all of the stain, washed clean by the Lord;
God’s gifts big and simple,
eternal and daily
make all we give
pale in comparison
causing us to bow in humble praise
