How profoundly different
how much better than our own
are the gifts of the Lord
not even enough,
the distinction of creation
all of the world good
but man very good
Great, even that,
not a strong enough
adjective
the wonder of God’s gifts
to the humbleness of Man
our commonness evident
when compared with God’s
glory
all we have to do
is look upon our own face
How much more,
the offerings of the Creator,
the Savior of man
in the gifts God gives us
life, creation,
a future in heaven
the unmerited sacrifice
taking on the sins of the
world
Bowing humbly,
when we let go, when we
submit,
turn our lives from the
world
and return to God, like the
Prodigal,
Arms open, just like the Father
Prodigal’s all of us
when we return home to God
All our sins, the judgment
of our lives
all of the stain, washed
clean by the Lord
His gifts big and simple,
eternal and daily
what we all give
pales in comparison
causing us to bow in humble
praise
