Glimpses of fire
fleetingly in the sky
early morning bursts
of color, gossamer moments
turning to smoke
right before my eyes
Stopping to wonder
to snap a picture or two
to watch the changing sky
brilliant colors of the dawn
yellow, white, luminous,
alive
caught in the mirror of the
clouds
Dulling to gray, blue,
purples
softer pastels of darker
hues
a different palette all
together
in a matter of seconds
lost in sameness
a washed tableau
fading from view
