picking up the pieces

we are tasked to move forward

picking up the pieces

the broken shards, the torn threads

the hurting, living stones,

of the temple, of the body,

of the living house of prayer

we must reflect on the pain

the anger of the moment

the confusion of process

our failure to love

to be loving to our siblings

all of us children of God

we are to move beyond this moment

but to learn from this experience, these emotions,

this anguish that we are feeling

that somehow something precious was lost

when we were trying to do Your work

but failing to be the church
