Closing our eyes – v2

Choosing to be complicit
in their suffering, their anguish
Closing our eyes
blocking our ears
blind to injustice
to their cries for freedom

Silent, complacent
complicit in their anguish
knowing they are suffering
yet focused on self-interest;
Our ships safely berthed
their lives in the balance
