I looked down for a
moment
on Thanksgiving morning;
There was a picture of
eternity
frozen in shadow
There was a cut out
remaining
a silhouette of frost;
The old sugar maple
was imprinted on the
grass
It was only for these fleeting
moments
as the morning warmed the
ground;
The November sun rising
the church lawn becoming
wet
The shadow of the maple
was white on the ground;
The frost yet remained
until the sun moves
around
There was a whisper in
the shadow
in the cut out of white;
God’s presence was with
us
in the shadow of the
night
God was here with us
with the morning light;
We have a joy within us
the whole world bright
