Worse than
dandelions,
more
tenacious
than poison
ivy,
an invasive
species
unwanted,
connected;
Woven into
the vine
the soil,
the ground
the very
fabric of our lives
of the
world
Tares with
the wheat
but no time
to wait for harvest
for the
difference more clear
the kudzu
spreading
intertwined
within;
Needing to
be pulled out
no matter
the pain
nothing
remaining
of the
weeds
The roots,
the vines,
the
invasive species
entwined
within,
pulling out
the kudzu
the briers,
the dead stuff;
The roots
deep remaining
pulling
them out too,
ignoring
the thorns,
doing what
must be done
