I
could hardly believe it
but
it is so typical
in
this land of plenty;
There
are two kinds of healthcare
for
the haves and have nots
He
was released, discharged
aches
unexplained
before
he was ready;
Caught
in the cracks
the
gaps in the system
He
was sent home with questions
an
incomplete diagnosis;
Pushed
to the curb
for
a lack of insurance
sent
home too soon
Now
comes working,
a
graveyard shift before him,
the
clock still ticking;
Hoping
there won’t be a crisis
on
the weekend
during
the holidays
