What would we do, if we were the rich man
standing before Christ
told to give away all of our wealth
all of his possessions to be sold
the proceeds given
only in poverty, to follow the Lord
What would we say, the master before us
challenging us to let go of the world
following him empty,
a worthy vessel waiting
praying to be filled
with the love of God
Nothing between us
no impediment to our service
following our Lord
our cross in our hands
