Love, what is written
shared in the holy word
far more than familial love
of a husband and wife,
a man and a woman,
a parent and their child
Love, unconditional, steadfast
in the creation
in the sign of the rainbow
the Christ come to earth
A servant to the father
even going to the cross
taking on our debt
while we yet are in sin
Such is pure love
of God, for his children
living here below
Forgiving us ever
through the free sacrifice
God coming to earth
taking our stain from our flesh
