If we could be in heaven
in the courts of the master
if we could sit quietly
and turn to the prayers of our creator
what would we hear
if we listened to God’s prayers
A hope for our future
a plan for redemption
like a father, a parent
wanting the best for us
all of our days
There as a parent
watching over our struggles
learning as we stubble
along each life’s way
Knowing, as he does,
the answer is only
in when we turn from our plans
and submit our lives
our whole selves over to him
There, our parent, our brother
walking beside us
knowing before us
every step of our lives
Waiting for us to turn from our folly
to understand that in him alone all is set right
