The words of scripture
like a tapestry on a loom
a quilt of many squares
intricate, time consuming
worthy of the commitment
calling me again
back to the work
stitches in time
coming together
Slowly, surely
the words being written
etched forever
onto my beating heart
the story of the people
struggling to be faithful
Christ coming
to set us all free
The lessons of scripture
God’s love revealing
handed down
into our hands
trembling, even unbelieving
while we journey
here upon the earth
Messages daily
and truths long remembered
abiding, residing
giving comfort to our souls
in the steadfast love
the healing by the savior
all of life’s travails
leading to heaven
through the narrow gate
