This season of waiting
for the coming Christ child
the fulfillment of prophecy
God’s promise of ancient times
Something to hold onto
to look at with awe
that God came to earth
descending, as a man
Literally emptying himself
pouring out Love
the presence of the one who made
the earth and heaven above
Dying as a servant
humble to God’s will
going to the cross
that we may simply live
Until Christ comes in glory
riding on the clouds
waiting ever, vigilant
the saints all gather round
