Some will be washed
in baptism, foot-washing
like the brood of vipers
standing by the Jordan
some will not be made clean
though they are washed with water
even some washed by Jesus
some to remain dirty
we must be like the master
taking the robe, the apron
washing the feet of our brothers
caring for those in need
equally deserving,
all needing such comfort
yet some will remain dirty
like the brood of vipers
