the greatest pain of a parent
more than she should have endured
Mary’s pain at the cross
watching her son die horribly
becoming our sacrifice
ridiculed, spit upon
accused of apostasy
his hands nailed to the cross
blood pouring from open wounds
wearing the thorns
stripped of his clothes
hanging on the cross to die

27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.”
