the rooster began to crow

as Peter spoke the words
just as Christ had foretold
the rooster began to crow
to fulfill the prophecy
denying he knew the Christ
a foreshadowing of their word
denying God as their King
allegiance to the world
an indictment, destiny
one redeemed by the Lamb
others, lost for eternity.
