The Cup of Our Vomit – v4

In the garden, Gethsemane
after the betrayal, Judas
racing into the night
after the supper, the Passover,
After the breaking of the bread
the sharing of the wine

A different cup waiting
there in that garden
more than sacrifice
waiting for Him;
the bitter cup of our vomit
of the bile of our Sin

The Lord praying
His tears like blood
that awesome moment,
in the pit of that decision,
understanding more deeply His cry,
“Please take this cup from me!”

His humanity, for a moment
rising in panic, to turn from this path;
returning, submissive, fulfilling
God’s holy plan,
Christ the Servant, the lamb
putting that awful cup to His own lips

There in the garden, Gethsemane,
taking on the weight of our sin;
the die cast, fulfilled,
drinking the cup of our vomit
of the bile of our Sin;
faithful to God, new life in Him.

Mark 7:20-23 (The Message)
‘He (Christ) went on: "It's what comes out of a person that pollutes:
obscenities, lusts, thefts, murders, adulteries, greed, depravity,
deceptive dealings, carousing, mean looks, slander, arrogance,
foolishness—all these are vomit from the heart.
There is the source of your pollution."’
