How unworthy I am
to speak the word of
creation;
Even if we are freed
by the blood of the cross
As if in God’s place
to proclaim, to speak;
To shout out God’s words
setting the world on its
foundation.
Drawing the plumb line
setting the seasons into
motion;
Causing the mountains to
rise and
the waters to stay in their
basin
The temerity to speak
to be able to muster;
I am not worthy to claim God’s
words
to speak them from my lips

earlier poem and thoughts
about the sermon
and sermon series below
--------------
Presumptuous
Presumptuous
that being made in the image
that being like God
makes us God
like the creator, unbound,
like the limitless God
Such is the meaning
the power, the authority
claimed by man
in the reading of our story
the creation, the origin
the beginning of time
How much lower
is the stuff of man
made by the hand of God
breathed into life
the spirit of God
giving life
to man made of clay
