to have a place
where you could actually do it
say, “I’ll have the Usual”
and they knew what you meant
got it right, every time
oh there was such a place
oh so long ago
where I had that magic
in the palm of my hand
Two eggs scrambled,
a slice of cheese, mixed in
bacon, and a blueberry muffin
drenching in butter and grilled
on the hot grill, with the other flavors
of the morning oozing into its flesh
seared into the moist goodness
the flaky caky oooh of it
oh yes, there was such a place
with a bottomless mug, not cup
of coffee, black
