We didn’t really know;
but they called it a horse needle
the day the state police
came to tell us, scare us
away from drugs
A giant syringe on the table
with the barbiturates
the bale of marijuana
the pills, the bongs
the other tools of the deadly
the evil trade
scaring us straight
before we started
quite a memorable science class
