They ran/walked purposely,
eagerly
from the chancel into the
sanctuary,
out between the pews, by the
rows
of smiling adults, the
children of our church
going out to bring an
offering of food
for the homeless, the
shelters,
this season of harvest, of
thanksgiving
Laughing, heavy laden with
the bounty
of their ingathering,
sharing the load
A boy and girl held the
handles of a bag
marching down to the altar
to present
our gifts, out of Your
bounty,
their treasure to our God
