Mercenaries in the Consumer Wars – v2

Each of us complicit
part of the problem
growing an army of shoppers
mercenaries versed,
well armed and trainer,
in the consumer wars

Even our children,
speaking of the “fall product”,
asking ever for us all to buy
what we do not need

Struggling in the middle
the pull of society
the mantle of consumption
the measure of wealth
trying to focus, on the Christ-child
the One gift worthy, above all else
