we hear in these words
of the leader, the pastor;
words of those ancient believers
the people before us
echoes of their steps
their faithful journeys;
all who have gone before
as a people, in this nation
we hear in these words
convergence, our purpose;
what God would have us do
how we can answer Christ’s
call
our minds opening
to these words of power;
echoes of their steps
beating in our hearts
