If
we listen to these words
the
story of that people
of
their slavery in Egypt,
of
the choice of their leader;
hearing
the thread of history
echoing
through the ages
the
echoes in our own land
of
another time, a leader
freeing
our fellow man;
war
was the crucible
reforming,
refining
reshaping
our union
a
more perfect nation
but
the work continues;
our
journey not complete
more
work remaining
until
all are truly equal
equal
to our creed
