Of
Lincoln, and King
of
the civil rights movement
echoes
of our aspirations
in
the words of his inaugural
the
words of resolve
an
echo of Joshua too
of
the next generation
of
our need to be courageous
of
work still to do
of
unfinished business
he
spoke with passion
perhaps
bolder
grander
than his last
touching
on our aspirations
and
on the unmet promise
that
none would be lost
each
initiative, each desire
to
lift up our neighbor
to
answer an innate call
that
all men are equal
to
bind up our brothers
our
sisters, the others
those
who share this walk
who
journey with us
in
this nation we love
his
words a challenge
to
fight for our freedom
no
matter our race, our gender,
to
not give up
until
the work is done
