We have turned our backs
on Jesus
we have cursed God’s holy
name;
We have wallowed in the
filth with the Prodigal
we have questioned why
Christ came.
We have worshipped gods of
this earth
mere mortals, men of clay;
We have exalted things of
dust, of the earth
we have cursed the light
of day.
Forgive us Lord in Your
mercy
may we be made whole once
more;
Walking with You loving
Savior
for You alone are the Way.
Lead me loving God
walk with me within the
yoke;
Let me take up my cross
each day
may I seek to live with You.
Guard me from the world
from the sirens, this
shiny objects;
All the false gods calling
to me
including the illusion of
my own power.
For we fail to recognize that
we are dust
making gods of false idols;
All that is clay, that
returns to the earth
to the ground from which
we came.
