So easy to dismiss him
to judge guilty Judas;
To see only evil
in his decision to betray Jesus
to give Him into their hands.
So much more complicated than this
truly multi-layered;
For Judas loved Him
just as the others did
the disciples of Christ.
Judas loved Him, Jesus,
the One he had followed;
But perhaps too much a zealot
to embrace forgiveness
to follow Him to the cross.
Judas loved Him and yet
he was willing to betray Jesus
thirty coins for his Master
telling the leaders where
Christ could be found.
