What
do you think He looks like,
even
if God is our Father,
an
image of God, Creator,
the
picture in our mind’s eye
of
the eternal God, our Lord;
Trying
to imagine, with limited vision
to
conjure the limitless God.
Something
of comfort,
perhaps
a bearded Gandalf,
or
maybe brilliant light,
without
form or shape;
but
a certainty, a Presence,
the
power to save us, to shape us,
to
make the whole world right.
Trying
to find the infinite
to
define unlimited power
our
vocabulary inadequate;
seeking
to find God in the familiar
to
see God as a mortal, human,
not
something impossible
the
formless unseen.
