From a pure royal
blue, to a spectrum of rust
melting pale canary
yellow,
bleeds to burgundy
and finally cobalt;
a sudden sunset
between
the twin pitons
The warm leeward
breath
rising up from the
ocean’s surface;
wafting up the slope
of the volcanic ridge
Rich lush greens,
sweet fragrance on
the tropical breeze;
Air wet at dusk
falling through the
dewpoint
Dark wrapping us like
a blanket
heat not yet abating;
looking out on the
now placid sea.
Weak light of
civilization
hidden behind, beyond
the road below.
