The ancient words of Leviticus
the Law, the Mosaic Code,
long before their eyes
an indictment of the people.
To love their neighbors
the people as themselves,
offering love to them
offering their best.
Why this was a new command
understood in context;
He said to love as He did
God in the Flesh.
The words important, true,
but where He said them too,
after He let Judas leave
setting His death in motion.
This was what Christ meant by love
to love as He did, unconditional;
Offering our lives, our all,
all we are for our neighbors.
