I am left grieving
wanting to apologize
to reverse time, repenting,
of hurt I have caused
in anger, frustration,
in coarse words thrown
in the heat of the battle
That tendency to argue
every point, at any cost.
I am left grieving
when I truly consider
what I have done
and who I have hurt
battling for its own sake
whatever the cost
Hurting those I love
with a quick tongue
with a careless thought.
