the scourging

the crown of thorns

the angry nails

the lintels of the cross

covered in blood

so much blood

of the Lamb

to protect the lost

blood on the altar,

the horns, the sacrifice

poured out

for heaven

to give us new life

so much blood spilled

in Christ’s sacrifice
