We join with that ancient
people
our own lament raised with
them,
with David, with the people,
“How long, O Lord,
must I suffer in the
darkness;
how long with I travel
in this wilderness
lost in the briars
in the struggles on this
journey
mired in spiritual pain?”
We know this lament
we journey under its weight
this cloak of sorrow
We want to feel You
to be lifted from this
burden
these dead ends on our way
these times of struggle
not sensing You with us
we long to journey in the
light
in Your presence
in our walk, our journey.
“How long,” we ask;
but we need to be patient
to wait on You, on Your
perfect timing
and Your holy wisdom
in whatever we do.
