Have Mercy on Me a Sinner

Lord, I praise you
For you are worthy
I am but clay
Broken at that
Wanting to be whole
To be your servant
To do my part
Following your call

Have mercy on me, a sinner
Failing to follow
To heed your call
Speak to me ever
A message of salvation
The healing of your grace
The glory of your word

On seeing the title of the older poem,
“Be Merciful to me, a sinner”,
before posting it to www.christianpoetry.org

--------------------

Be Merciful to me, a sinner

Falling to his knees
praying humbly
knowing himself
confessing his sin
praying honestly to God

Aware of his place
how far below the creator
coming to the rail
begging for his grace

Praying that God
the almighty, maker of all,
would be merciful to him
a lowly sinner of the earth
