Made pure through the fire

In the process, the journey
If we are faithful
God working in us
Transformed from within
Leading us on
Going before us
Calling us onward
Into the light

We are tested, burned
Changed in the fire
Refined of imperfections
The burrs burned away
All of the future
Seen by our Master
The potter already knows
The use for our clay

We must be faithful
Following our shepherd
Heeding his calling
The small voice within
His example telling
The path of the servant
Going to the cross
Sharing God’s message of love

All in God’s time
In the way of God’s choosing
The path which we travel
Giving up control
Only in hindsight
Or moments of presence
Can we sense the Creator’s guiding
Of our trembling feet
