Father, forgive them
for they know not what they do
spoken by a man, Jesus
yes fully divine
but also fully human
God on the cross
the man on the tree
Father, forgive them
for they know not what they do
How true these words are
they, we, didn’t have a clue
we had no idea, the evil
the costs for our sins
every day of our lives
there on that cross
so long ago,
Christ, fully human,
bearing our sins for us
there on that cross
