God help me to discern

God help me to listen

to the words you have spoken

lessons for life

now as then

words of power

words of connection

guiding our hearts

our unruly tongues.

God help me to understand

the full rich meaning

your words of scripture

for my life now

nothing vague

nothing general

something for me

within every word.

God help me to discern

your path for me

to see the way

clear of the fog

certain of your call

certain of your protection

leading me onward

in the plan you wrote.
