The world in darkness
Your Spirit over the waters;
The maelstrom, the chaos
swirling round, about us.
I know the chaos, the storms,
how many of us can say this;
Not yet in Your arms
but before we saw Your light.
Unchanged from the world
pulled by false pleasures;
Not in Your arms, together
seeking false treasure.
Wanting Your guidance
the strength of Your purpose;
Wanting to be servants
resplendent in Your glory.
Serving You ever
worthy of praise, of grace;
Wanting to atone
for our transgressions.
Yet Christ already paid
Your hand upon the waters;
Healing us from darkness
light by Your word.
