Quenching the Spirit – v5

Another way to see
the candles going dim;
stanching the Spirit
the fire with us still

Quenching the Spirit,
extinguishing the Light;
our breath blowing out candles
when the world should be bright

This service, Tenebrae,
the darkening gloom;
yet we know Easter
a return of the bridegroom
