The words of his promise
not just to Noah
the people at that time
to everyone living after him
A covenant, of love,
with us to this day
God promised never to flood the earth
to wash away sin by destruction
In this, the on-sided promise of God
remembered by the rainbow in the sky
the seeds of the coming of the Christ
one day to save us from ourselves
The words of his promise
the laws he would lay down
the words to the patriarchs
the love of God
fully revealed
only in the coming of the son
